Lebohang Mthunzi

Lebohang Mthunzi was born in Sharpeville township in 1990 and studied theatre at Fuba. She worked at Themba interactive, empowered by Wits’ drama for life, as an actor educator intern for two years and after that as a qualified interactive theatre actor and permed in schools, cooperate functions and correctional facilities. Lebo also qualifies as an arts facilitator and peer educator. She worked for the Soweto theatre as a drama facilitator; and is an award winner of the best actress at a community theatre Festival show called “The Sharpeville Massacre.” She has starred in different TV, film, and theatre shows like “Christmas Wish” by Lebo Matli for MnetTV and “A song for Julie” by Chris.

Later, Lebo ventured into storytelling, performing self-written and ancient traditional folktales at Kwesukela storytelling academy, and has performed at the Freedom Park annual storytelling festival. She was cast on a local soapy, Generations the Legacy, as Angela in 2014. She directed Hunsel and Grittel at the National Children’s Theatre. She featured in a local film, “Tokoloshe, screened at the Cannes film festival and local cinemas. She also hosts an annual art festival in Sharpeville, helping the youth showcase their talent. Mthunzi believes in sharing her artistic experience and knowledge with young people.
